Week two in the Betty Blogger Summer School at the Burlington Public Library and on to Task #2 - Streaming. Now that this blog is set-up it looks like the task is to successfully link a YouTube video into the blog. It also appears that the learning goal in this exercise is to become familiar with YouTube. YouTube is a fun, informative and without a doubt, an entertaining platform for sharing media. YouTube streaming is popular for many reasons: it's visually appealing, it's on-demand meaning you can watch almost whatever you want when you want, videos are shared globally and accessible by almost everyone. Over the past few years the Burlington Fire Department has uploaded and selected to favourite many videos produced by the Office of the Fire Marshal, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and other organisations. These videos all share a similar theme; Fire and Life Safety. Just this morning for this exercise the Burlington Fire Department 'favourited' (is that really a word?) a preview video presented by NFPA. The video is for the 2011 Fire Prevention Week. Lisa,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to you and the Burlington Fire Department for continually upgrading your skills and efforts to keep our community informed and safe.
Great videos! Your organization is very smart to jump on the online video bandwagon. People are much more likely to watch a video about safety than to read documents.
